About the Society
The District of Columbia Sociological Society seeks to enhance the scientific quality, policy impact, and public visibility of sociology as a discipline and as a community of scholars and practitioners. This purpose will be achieved through regular meetings of members, annual conferences, newsletters, special publications, and awards. These program activities shall be designed to:
- meet the educational needs of members;
- encourage interaction among members (regular and student) working in academic and practice settings;
- provide members with a communications network on disciplinary and applied employment, research opportunities, ethics, and other matters of common concern, and
- recognize members for their special and lifetime contributions to the discipline and community.
